SMC Hosts ‘China Through My Eyes’ Video Awards Ceremony for International Students

On Dec. 14, the first “China through My Eyes” Award Ceremony was hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s School of Media and Communication. The short video competition is open to all international students in China, and 21 students around the country placed or took honors. Around 300 guests, scholars, and students attended the ceremony held in the school’s auditorium. 

 

“China through My Eyes": Short Video Contest for International Students in China organized by School of Media and Communication, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has attracted a lot of interests from universities all over China. There were in total 224 videos submitted to the competition website, which were made by international students from 26 universities and 41 countries originally. The School of Media and Communication partnered with about 30 universities in China including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Communication University of China, and Tongji University. The contest also gained the support of media outlets such as Shanghai United Media Group, Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group, Baidu, Eastday.com, and Tencent.com.

 

Wang Weiming, the vice president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xu Shiping, president of Eastday.com, Shi Shaonan, president of Tencent Video, and Li Benqian, the dean of the School of Media and Communication addressed attendees at the ceremony Saturday.

Six special guests announced the arrival of next year’s contest by placing their hands on the screen.

The “China through My Eyes” Short Video Contest for International Students in China has enhanced international students’ knowledge of Chinese culture and society and gives viewers a chance to see China from authentic and varied perspectives. Next year’s “China through My Eyes” Short Video Contest for International Students is expected to attract even more creativity and brilliance.
